Arranging Fractions in Ascending or Descending Order

To arrange fractions: We compare them to see which is smaller or larger. We can use common denominators, cross-multiplication, or convert to decimals.

Conceptual understanding: Fractions represent parts of a whole. Visualizing with bars or pies helps see which is bigger without memorizing rules.

Remember: For ascending order: smallest to largest. For descending: largest to smallest.

1/2
Half of a whole
1/3
One third, smaller than 1/2
3/4
