Prime Numbers

Prime numbers can be represented only on a straight line (a 1xn or nx1 rectangle).

They have only 2 factors: 1 and the number itself.

For example
The number 5 can be represented in only 2 ways!

In a row (1 x 5)

In a column (5 x 1)

The factors of 5 are 1 and 5.

Composite Numbers ๐Ÿงฑ

A Composite number can be represented in a rectangular form with more than 1 row and 1 column.

A composite number has more than 2 factors.

The factors of 6 are 1, 6, 2 and 3.

For example
The number 6 can be represented as 2 X 3 or 3 X 2

2 rows by 3 columns (2 x 3)

3 rows by 2 columns (3 x 2)

The Special Number: 1๏ธโƒฃ

The number 1 is a special number. It can only be represented in 1 way.

1 x 1

It can't be Prime, it needs two different factors: 1 and itself, but 1 only has one unique factor.

It can't be Composite it needs more than two factors.

Therefore, 1 is neither Prime nor Composite!
